Betbot Mock Draft Picks 11-15
11 – Buffalo Bills – Derrick Harvey – DE – Florida
Not a lot of people have Harvey going here. I simply don’t see a WR worth taking here, and that’s probably the Bills #1 need. Malcolm Kelly keeps running slow on various surfaces, and while Devin Thomas from MSU is a temptation…naah. But of course there are 32 scouting organizations evaluating these guys, and there will be 32 different evaluations of the players (35 if you count ESPN, NFL Network and Sirius). Harvey is the best player available at a position of moderate need for the Bills. He’s the pick.
12 – Denver Broncos – Branden Albert – G/T – Virginia
Quite a coup for Al Groh here, as two Virginia players go in the bleeping top 12. Branden Albert is a versatile, large young man. The only place I know he won’t be starting next year is at Center. The Broncos make their O-Line younger and better here.
13 – Carolina Panthers – Rashard Mendenhall – RB – Illinois
The Panthers could go O-line here with Otah still unclaimed, but I like Mendenhall. Mendenhall is a quick, big back, and that’s a pretty nice combination. Carolina gets an immediate impact playmaker who can take some pressure off the passing game…now about that QB…
14 – Chicago Bears – Jeff Otah – T – Pitt
Cedrick Benson stinks, let’s face facts, he is a bust for where he was taken. But he may be serviceable with a better line. At least, that should be the thinking in Chicago. Otah will make a big difference in the running game, I am not 100% sold on his footwork for the passing game, but that can be learned. Mendenhall could be the pick here if he lasts, but the Bears have a glaring need at OT…competition for Benson can wait till round 3 or later.
15 – Detroit Lions – Devin Thomas – WR – MSU
Ha…bzzzt…ha. Just bleeping kidding.
15 – Detroit Lions – Jonathan Stewart – RB - Oregon
Boy, do the Lions need a running back. Stewart is starting to climb up the boards on mock drafts and must have a great agent, because ESPN loves the kid. There’s a lot to love, though. He is 235 pounds and ran a bleeping 4.44 40 time. Forget it. The Lions could go MLB here with Mayo from Tennessee, but there is some good depth at LB this year in the middle rounds. Hold the Mayo, go for the points.
But that Devin Thomas kid is from Michigan State….hmmm…Someone keep Matt Millen away from the War Room!
